Search is on for Britain’s top vet receptionist

October sees the kick–off of a nationwide search to find the UK’s top vet receptionist. Petplan is urging all veterinary staff and clients to make their nominations for the Petplan Veterinary Awards 2009 now!

Nominations are being sought under four categories:

  • Vet Receptionist of the Year;
  • Vet Nurse of the Year;
  • Vet of the Year;
  • Practice of the Year.

Simon Wheeler, head of marketing for Petplan, stressed the importance of getting involved: "What better way of expressing your gratitude and thanks than by nominating your colleagues for such a great award.

"Each year we are astonished by the response, with tales ranging from midnight rescues to simple acts of kindness and support."

Vet Receptionist of the Year 2008, Margaret Gait

The Vet Receptionist of the Year 2008 was Margaret Gait who was elated when she won the prestigious title. When she found out that she won the award, she said: "Being nominated, let alone winning the award, is something else. I feel so privileged and proud that my colleagues think I am worthy of this award – it is great that colleagues and clients feel that I have made a difference."

In April 2009, all finalists will be invited to a glittering black–tie ceremony, hailed as the Veterinary Oscars, where the winners will be announced.

You can nominate a colleague online by visiting www.petplan.co.uk/vetawards

The closing date for nominations is February 6 2009.
